The Cabarrus Chamber recently celebrated the 10-year anniversary of Queen City Engineering & Design (QCE) with a ribbon cutting, honoring a decade of innovation, growth, and impact in the field of engineering and product development.

Founded in September 2015 by Rex and Ashley Carriker, Queen City Engineering & Design was born from a passion for solving real-world challenges in modern manufacturing. Rex, a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in North Carolina and graduate of North Carolina State University, has spent his entire career in research and development. With more than 15 years of experience and a drive for innovation, he built QCE into an ISO 9001-registered company known for delivering realistic, cost-effective, and turn-key engineering solutions.

QCE specializes in the design, development, and manufacturing of fabricated and machined components, as well as end-user products. Over the past decade, the company has earned the trust of clients across multiple industries—including GE Aviation, 3M, Nordfab Ducting, Briggs & Stratton, Tesla, Duke Energy, Eli Lilly, BRP, and Apple.

In 2020, QCE expanded its impact through Queen City Transit Solutions, a division focused on providing custom safety solutions for the public transportation industry. This includes the development of Driver Operator Barriers that enhance driver safety across the U.S. and Canada.

Their commitment to excellence has been recognized with multiple awards, including the 2018 Xometry Excellence in Manufacturing Award and the 2022 NCMEP Leadership Award for Innovative Practice. Additionally, Rex Carriker was named one of Business North Carolina’s Top 40 Trailblazers in 2022.

When asked about their Chamber membership, the QCE team shared that they joined “to be more involved locally” and to connect with other small businesses through networking, education, and community building.
