The Cabarrus Chamber joined Celgard in celebrating two major milestones at its Concord manufacturing facility: the company’s 15th anniversary in Concord and the launch of its new, state-of-the-art coating capabilities.
The celebration included a ribbon cutting attended by Celgard employees, local business leaders, and government representatives, highlighting the company’s continued investment in innovation and advanced manufacturing in Cabarrus County.
Advancing Battery Innovation
Celgard has long been recognized as the original inventor of ceramic-coated separators (CCS), a technology that has played a significant role in shaping the lithium-ion battery industry for decades. The company’s latest coating capabilities mark another important step forward, expanding its ability to deliver a broader portfolio of advanced battery separator solutions.
The new technology supports a wide range of coating patterns, thicknesses, coverage options, and multilayer configurations. These capabilities are compatible with multiple base film technologies, allowing Celgard to create highly customized separator solutions designed to meet the evolving needs of electric vehicles, energy storage systems, and next-generation battery applications.
A Continued Commitment to Concord
Opened in 2011 as Celgard’s second U.S. manufacturing location, the Concord facility has become a key part of the company’s North American manufacturing footprint. The 15-year milestone reflects both the growth of the facility and Celgard’s ongoing commitment to U.S.-based manufacturing and technological innovation.
The Cabarrus Chamber congratulates Celgard on this exciting milestone and applauds the company’s continued leadership in advanced manufacturing, innovation, and investment in the Concord community.
