The Cabarrus Chamber recently celebrated the ribbon cutting for Cabarrus Health Alliance’s new space at Brown Mill, marking an exciting expansion of services and community partnerships in Concord.
Located at 526 Cabarrus Ave. W, Concord, NC 28027, the new facility brings together several important Cabarrus Health Alliance programs and teams under one centrally located space designed to better serve residents across the county.
Expanding Access to Public Health Services
Cabarrus Health Alliance (CHA), a public health authority established by the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners in 1997, is dedicated to improving individual and community health through services, education, and collaborative action. The organization is currently led by Erin Shoe, MPH, Public Health Director.
The new Brown Mill location now houses:
- All of CHA’s Environmental Health Services
- The Concord-based WIC office (with the Kannapolis WIC office remaining open)
- The School Health administrative team
- LiveWell Counseling services
By relocating these services to Brown Mill, CHA has expanded its operational footprint while creating more accessible and centralized support for residents and staff alike.
Part of the Rebuilders Campus Vision
In 2024, Cabarrus Health Alliance partnered with Cooperative Christian Ministry through a long-term lease agreement at the historic Brown Mill site as part of the broader Rebuilders Campus initiative.
The Rebuilders Campus is a collaborative effort focused on addressing homelessness and housing instability in Cabarrus County by creating transitional housing and supportive services for families, senior adults, and adults with disabilities experiencing housing crises.
Brown Mill Commons will also include retail, commercial, and nonprofit organizations designed to support both campus residents and surrounding neighborhoods, creating a connected, walkable community centered on care and opportunity.
The Cabarrus Chamber congratulates Cabarrus Health Alliance on this important milestone and applauds their continued commitment to strengthening the health and well-being of Cabarrus County residents through innovation, accessibility, and collaboration.
