A dozen healthcare programs at Cabarrus College of Health Sciences have begun accepting applications for the Spring 2026 semester.
Applications submitted by October 1, 2025, will be given priority consideration for the spring semester, which is scheduled to begin January 12, 2026. Admissions will continue on a rolling basis thereafter, until all program spots are filled.
Meeting the community’s growing needs for nurses and health professionals
“Now is an excellent time to pursue or advance your career in healthcare, as the demand for skilled clinicians continues to rise across the country,” said Christine Corsello, dean of student affairs and enrollment management for the college. “This results in 97% of our graduates landing a job in their field within a year of graduation, and the word is spreading. We recently enrolled a record number of students for our fall semester.”
The college, which is affiliated with Atrium Health, has seen record enrollment each semester since 2019. It continues to grow enrollment to meet the community’s growing needs for nurses and health professionals in areas such as medical imaging, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, and surgical technology.
Located in Concord, North Carolina, Cabarrus College is the least expensive private college in North Carolina. It offers a generous mix of scholarships, loans, and other aid, including various incentives for Atrium Health teammates.

Among them is the Associate of Science in Nursing (ADN) program, which enables someone with a high school diploma to become a registered nurse within two years.
“I always knew that I wanted to do something in the medical field, whether it was veterinary medicine, forensics, or eventually nursing,” said Kayla Greenwood, a first-generation college student enrolled in the ADN program.
Greenwood said she chose Cabarrus College because of its close affiliation with Atrium Health and the job and learning opportunities that come along with that.
“I also loved the small class sizes and close-knit feeling of the program,” she added. “Coming from a small-town school, the idea of a big university did not sound appealing to me. After graduating next year, I hope to work in the ICU and one day become a CRNA!”
Thanks to a mix of online and in-person classes, Cabarrus College has also become a valuable resource for working healthcare professionals like Mathew Thielk.
“I chose to pursue my Master of Science in Nursing through Cabarrus College of Health Sciences because of the direct relationship between Cabarrus College and Atrium Health,” said Thielk, MSN’22. “Most of my professors and colleagues were current or past employees of Atrium Health, and that made the connections much more relatable.
Affordability also factored significantly in Thielk’s decision after he explored comparable programs.
“I enjoyed the small class sizes and being able to navigate through the program with individuals I have worked with in the past, as well as peers I work with currently,” he said.
Thielk is currently the nurse manager for Atrium Health Pineville Preoptimization Clinic, Day Surgery, PACU, and Facility Patient Experience Team.
