Special Olympics North Carolina Athletes Excel at 2025 SONA Golf Championship

Three Special Olympics North Carolina golf athletes competed in the 2025 Special Olympics North America Golf Championship at Penn National Golf Club & Inn in Fayetteville, Pennsylvania. The event took place from August 25 to 28, 2025.

2025 SONA Golf Championship

Over 300 athletes and Unified partners representing 22Special Olympics Programs from across the US and Canada competed in the 2025 SONA Golf Championship.

Clay County and Iredell County represented local Special Olympics North Carolina programs.

The results of the 2025 Special Olympics North America Golf Championship are as follows: 

Level 1:

  • Delaney Hansen, Iredell County: Gold Medal
  • John Riley, Clay County: Bronze Medal
  • Cheryl Weiss, Iredell County: Fourth Place Ribbon

Others in the Special Olympics North Carolina delegation included  Kaitlyn Gribbon, Head of Delegation, and Joe Keenan, coach.
