The Cabarrus County Tourism Authority Board serves as the governing body for the Cabarrus County Tourism Authority, otherwise known as the Cabarrus County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB). This 12-member board plays a pivotal role in guiding the development of tourism-related events, facilities, and initiatives throughout Cabarrus County, aiming to enhance the visitor experience and boost tourism’s economic impact.

Mayor Teague is the first representative from the Town of Harrisburg to serve on the Tourism Authority Board since its inception in 1989. Mayor Teague will represent one of the six CVB Board of Directors seats. The board also comprises three seats from the Chamber of Commerce and three seats from the Cabarrus County Commissioners.

As Mayor of the Town of Harrisburg, Jennifer Teague brings a strong commitment to responsible economic development and regional collaboration. Mayor Teague’s leadership and community insight will help ensure the county’s tourism strategies continue to reflect the values and needs of Cabarrus County’s diverse communities.

“I think Mayor Teague, being the first Harrisburg representative appointed to the board in the 36-year history of the board, speaks volumes about how much our impact and contributions to the region’s related industry have grown in recent years,” said Town Manager Rob Donham.

“I’m proud to represent Harrisburg as one of the five unique communities that make up Cabarrus County,” said Mayor Jennifer Teague. “The Tourism Authority plays a role in driving economic growth, supporting infrastructure, and enhancing the overall experience for both visitors and residents. Our recent Fourth of July Celebration, which drew more than 44,000 people over two days, is a great example of how strong community events can boost the local economy.”

Donna Carpenter, President and CEO of the Cabarrus County Convention and Visitors Bureau, expressed her enthusiasm for the appointment. “We are beyond thrilled to have Mayor Teague sit at the table with other leaders from the community, representing Harrisburg and making overarching decisions on hospitality and tourism in our amazing destination.”
