Life has a funny way of bringing things full circle.

Not long ago, I was on the other side of the Chamber experience. I was a member, attending networking events, introducing myself to strangers, collecting business cards, and trying to figure out how to grow my business while building genuine relationships.

Like many members, I walked into my first events wondering if I’d know anyone. Before long, I realized something pretty special. The Chamber wasn’t just about referrals or ribbon cuttings. It was about people. It was about finding a community that wanted to see one another succeed.

Fast forward to today, and I have the incredible privilege of serving as the Director of Membership Development & Engagement for the Cabarrus Regional Chamber of Commerce. Every day I get to welcome new businesses, reconnect with longtime members, and help entrepreneurs and organizations discover the same sense of connection that I found.

One of my favorite parts of the job is hearing each business owner’s story. Every company has a reason they started. Every entrepreneur has taken a leap of faith. Getting to learn those stories and connect people with resources, opportunities, and each other never gets old.

What’s unique about my role is that I remember exactly what it’s like to be a member. I know what it feels like to walk into an event hoping to make one meaningful connection. I understand the excitement of celebrating a milestone with a ribbon cutting. I also know that sometimes the biggest value of Chamber membership isn’t something you can measure on a spreadsheet. Sometimes it’s simply knowing you have a community cheering you on.

Whether you’re a brand-new business, a nonprofit making a difference, or a company that’s been part of Cabarrus County for decades, there’s a place for you here. The Chamber is filled with people who believe that when one business succeeds, our entire community grows stronger.

Looking back, I never imagined I’d go from Chamber member to helping lead membership efforts. But I’m grateful I did.

If we’ve never met, I’d love to change that. Stop by an event, introduce yourself, or reach out. I’d love to hear your story, learn about your business, and help you make the most of your Chamber membership.

After all, you never know where one connection might lead. Mine led me here.
