Cabarrus Meals on Wheels invites the community to join them for the 19th Annual Sunday Soup Sampling – “A Souper March for Meals” on Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm at the City Club at Gibson Mill in Concord.
A longtime community favorite, this year’s event takes on new meaning as it kicks off the national March for Meals campaign. Traditionally held in the fall, Soup Sampling now moves to March to align with the nationwide celebration honoring senior nutrition programs made possible through the Older Americans Act. March for Meals commemorates the historic March 22, 1972, amendment that established a national nutrition program for older adults.
By launching the month with “A Souper March for Meals,” Cabarrus Meals on Wheels is rallying the community around its mission to combat senior hunger and isolation across Cabarrus County.
Guests will enjoy:
- Unlimited tastings of signature soups prepared by local restaurants and caterers
- Fresh breads and desserts
The opportunity to vote for their favorite soup - A raffle-style auction featuring exciting prizes
More than 500 community members are expected to attend this signature fundraiser, which is Cabarrus Meals on Wheels’ sole in-person fundraising event of the year. Proceeds directly support the organization’s efforts to deliver nutritious meals and daily friendly contact to homebound seniors and adults with disabilities.
“The Soup Sampling is more than a Sunday lunch, it’s a celebration of compassion and community,” said Abby Cagle, Community Outreach Coordinator. “Every bowl served helps ensure our neighbors receive not just nourishment, but connection and care.”
Tickets are $35 per person or $300 for a table of ten.
Sponsorship opportunities are also available for businesses and community pa1tners who want to support senior nutrition while gaining meaningful local recognition.
