Honoring Bryan Horne

Bryan Horne spent countless hours at Frank Liske Park. His work touched every trail, every open field, and every hidden nook. If you’ve enjoyed the park, you’ve seen the influence of the beloved member of Cabarrus County’s Infrastructure and Asset Management team.

According to former Assistant County Manager Kyle Bilafer: “You can’t walk or drive through this park without seeing (Horne’s) fingerprints.”

In December, more than 50 friends, family members, and coworkers gathered at Frank Liske Park to honor Horne, who had passed away in August 2022.

The group dedicated a memorial bench in Horne’s honor. It’s not just a place to sit; it’s a way to remember the man who poured so much heart and soul into the park and the people who enjoy it.

“He was many things to all of us: a son, a brother, a friend, a coworker, a supervisor, and a peer,” Bilafer said during the dedication. “Bryan was a hard worker, always looking to grow and improve. He loved the mountains, the beach, his holiday cooking, and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys—but his heart was never far from Cabarrus County and this park.”

Now, thanks to the memorial bench, Horne’s memory remains a permanent part of the park he cherished. The bench is located by the front entrance of the barn.
